Some of your questions may be answered by checking this site’s Q and A or the list of LGBT Resources, but you also may contact me using the form below. I will do my best to reply to each one, either personally or on the Q & A page.

Guest Posting on Magnetic Fire

I get many emails from people who want to know if I accept guest posts on Magneticfire, and if so, what are the guidelines. Yes, I do accept guest posts. Below you will find all the details about the process.

What kind of content do you accept?

Anything that is useful for our readers is good content for a guest post here. We accept posts which are related to issues for mature gay men, men questioning their sexual orientation and your own personal experiences. There is no minimum length for your post, but usually the guest posts have between 500-800 words.

Guidelines

    • Your post must be original and must have never been published before on the Internet
    • You agree to not publish the post anywhere else (i.e., in your own blog or as a guest post in other blogs)
    • You can include up to two links in the byline, which will be displayed at the bottom of the post

How do I submit my guest post?

If you have a post that meets the guidelines above, you can send it to me http://www.magneticfire.com/contact/. Usually within 48 hours I will let you know if we will accept the guest post or not. If I reject your post, you are obviously free to use it in your own

Media Interviews, Speaking, and Book Readings

Dr. Olson is available to speak and be interviewed about a variety of subjects including concealment of homosexual identity, coming out of the closet, loving someone who is gay (for spouses, families and children), gay aging, same sex marriage, and most subjects related to adult psychiatry. If you are interested, contact him using the above form.

You may also use the above form to contact Dr. Olson about any of the following, if:

  • You would like to submit an on-line resource such as other web sites, support groups, etc.
  • You would like to be a guest contributor to the blog.
  • You have a book to submit a book for review.
  • You are a professional colleague and would like to collaborate about professional issues
  • You find an error on the website
  • You wish to submit feedback

Mental Health/Counseling

If you have any general questions related to mental health or same sex relationships including gay marriage and you are unable to find the answers on this site, please feel free to contact me using the above form. However, if you are in need of counseling, see your primary care physician or a mental health professional within your local community since they are in a much better position to assess you needs.

In choosing a counselor it is important that they are well-trained and that you feel comfortable with them. You should ask them directly about their experiences in treating people with questions about sexual orientation.

I do not provide on-line counseling or psychotherapy services.

Legal

Whether single or in a relationship, a wide variety of legal issues confront mature men who are attracted to other men such as those related to divorce and custody, civil unions or same sex marriage, and wills and powers of attorney.

I do not give legal advice, and you should contact a gay-supportive lawyer in your area.
